Finnair unveils A350 Marimekko Kivet livery

Finnair has unveiled a special livery for its latest A350-900 aircraft, designed by fashion company Marimmeko.

The carrier’s 11th A350 features the Marimekko Kivet design – according to the brand’s website “Maija Isola created the Kivet fabric in 1956 by cutting out rounds of coloured paper with scissors. The print’s shapes likely originate from the large, rough-edged stones cleared from the site of the artist´s studio home.”

The images shown were posted on Finnair representative @PoTerotin’s Twitter page.

Finnair has a long-standing relationship with Marimekko, with previous aircraft deliveries having sported other designs by the Finnish fashion house.

The airline has also incorporated Marimekko designs in the interior textiles and tableware on its A350 aircraft – for a Tried and Tested review of Finnair’s A350 delivery flight from Tolouse to Helinski in 2015.

In 2013 the carrier was forced to repaint one of its A330 aircraft, over copyright concerns surrounding the Marimekko “Forest Dwellers” livery.
